Nice to take a walk Got some views
Yery good
This used to be a pleasant little park, next to the sea where you could park your car, enjoy the view and walk around the paths. KCC have now contracted out the car park control to a private company who use a cctv camera to enforce the parking charges, whilst not excessive it is another reason not to come here. Following recent excavations to bring onshore and bury power cables from the offshore wind farm, the spoil from those excavations has been used to create a 4' high bank of chalk waste alongside the coastal path. This has considerably reduced the size of the grass area available and the view now is not of the bay, but of a chalk bank. I understand that it will be down with wild grasses and flowers to pretty it up, but thus will just further reduce the view. It is just a cheap way of solving the problem of what to do with the waste, and created an eyesore. My wife uses a wheelchair and access to the grass area in front of the car park was through a narrow overgrown cutting in the grass bank around the car park which is there to prevent cars being driven onto the grass. This was just about possible if I pulled my wife's wheelchair through it backwards. An alternative was to go the long way around and come across from the coastal path, which is now not an option due to.......a big chalk bank. Disabled access is very poor to non existent. The disabled toilet on site has been refurbished and is very clean, but, the RADAR key lock has been removed so that anyone now has access, once more people use the larger, cleaner disabled toilet the standards will fall. Also the waste pipe from the basin in the disabled toilet finishes about 12" from the floor and dumps the water onto the ground alongside the grating to the gulley in the floor. Water splatters across the floor, but more importantly if you are using the toilet whilst in a wheelchair then the water goes directly onto your feet which are under the basin. I cannot imagine the idiocy of the imbecile who installed such stupid plumbing. I'm sure that if this park were nearer to Maidstone then such matters would never have been allowed. I'm very disappointed that such silly things have detracted from what is a lovely location, where you now need to pay to park.
